Ilsa: WHAT?!?
New nurse: Aaahh! Um — Ms. Walker’s on the phone!
Ilsa: No, I wasn’t staking out Featherhead’s Master. That isn’t my job. What? You just get me on a plane.
Veteran nurse: You were taking your life into your hands, poking Ilsa like that.
New nurse: I don’t mind jump-scares. And it’s not like she can really hurt a human.
Veteran nurse: Uh . . . about that . . .
I’m guessing Ilsa will be revealed to (possibly) be the only being able to hurt humans. Maybe she was made after the contract had the magical alteration that made all other beings ‘safe’.
or maybe she’s old enough that she never had “human-safe” programming.
And that’s why you hold weapons tests before deploying a new system.
I think one of the theories going around is Beings used to be used to fight humans.
On the other hand, I get the feeling that each Being is/was bespoke. Their Creator made and gave them to a specific individual for that individual’s use for their unique purpose. The Donkey (possibly) can function without trips to Megido/Remnant of Eden. The Rabbit and The Raven have a similar ‘code base’, but were built at slightly different times.
Do you suppose the intent of the creator is reflected in the kind of animal the Being is?
Dog and Rabbit, domesticated animals. Safe enough?
Wolf, though? Probably *not* looking for human-safety?
I’m guessing it has something to do with the state of her master, to diverge from the other theories. I would guess that her insecurity over her Master’s support and love is causing other glitches in her system.
How long has it been since she was in a fight? Maybe she’s flaking out the way Kara Lynn used to.
