Annotated Chapter 24 Page 7

distorted figure sculptureMore weird distorted-body sculpture stuff, yesss. It makes sense that "carving of the Contract" would be a separate form for Beings. You don't want it to be easy to damage the actual Contract just by injuring the Being in Critter, Person, or Monster form. Miranda's using a modern digital camera, but it looks awfully retro. Don't remember if it was supposed to be a specific model, or what.
Bennett: Does that — hurt?? Cybele: No! It feels . . . it just feels like . . . another normal form to take. [FLASH!] Sparrow (thinking): . . . I’ll be able to read this more carefully in the photos later, but . . . Cybele: Heehee! That tickles.

  1. Modern cameras do look very retro. We’re all so used to taking pictures with our phones, it’s easy to not recognize that there are sometimes when the cameras on our phones just aren’t good enough, and the cameras we use in those cases look a lot like the cameras that we used to use, back in the day.

I’m not a professional photographer. I cannot tell the difference between a state of the art camera and one from 2014. Or for that matter, one from 2004. I mean, if I looked at the picture files it produced, assuming it’s a digital camera, I’d probably be able to tell, because it’s my understanding they’re now unbelievably ginormous, at least to me. I still remember 1024×768 being so big one had to pan it across the screen to see the whole thing.

  2. A smidgen more translating from the bottom of this. It’s basically the left text from 19 page 7 but I apparently missed a line.
