As originally scheduled, this had a thumbnail you could click for the full-size image...but since then I switched to the Toocheke theme, which handles wide images better than the Easel one! If you have any trouble zooming, comment and let me know.
That was "babe (affectionate)" that Cohen started to say.
It's a term we've seen him use for sexual partners -- like this hookup in chapter 14, and it's how he'll refer to Bennett coming up in chapter 27 -- but it's also how he addresses Miranda in chapter 23, when their relationship has gotten genuinely closer.
So it's an endearment Cohen reserves for all kinds of people/moments when he's being unusually affectionate. And this...is no longer the version of Patrick he had the affection for.
Miranda: Dad, this is them. Hi, guys. I’ll let you introduce yourselves.
Bianca: He’s still Patrick. And I’m Bianca Washington. You can call me . . . Ms. Washington.
Cohen: Of course. Hi, ba–. . . Patrick.

Huh, Bianca introduces herself the same way Dr. Gaillard does.
