Would Walker successfully demolish Blake, or no? Did the bullet miss, did someone shield Cohen, or did he take the hit? If it hit him, that opened up "Cohen tragically dies in the last 20 pages" as an option -- would that fit, thematically, with everything else I had built in the series up to this point?

It wasn't that I didn't have ideas -- I had too many ideas. And had kept things open so I could do any of them. But the time when I had to make a decision, and knock all the rest off the table, was coming up fast.
