The Middleman logo“My plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity” was the catchphrase of every villain in The Middleman. (The TV show, at least. I did get around to reading the comics…they weren’t quite as catchy.)

Anyone else here remember it? Hidden gem, one-series wonder, gone too soon.

Poe: I have the book you wanted. And the woman who contracted with Patrick has accepted the offer. Your overly complicated plan has been set in motion.

Miranda: Complicated? It’s just buying up all the seats in the house, sending the performers across town for the night, and waiting in the empty theater until our two guests arrive. My plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity.

Poe: And what if Bianca invites her roommate to join her, instead of Patrick?

Miranda: . . . Why didn’t you mention that before?

Poe: Apologies, Master. I ‘m sure we can make it work out.
