“Surely that is something at my window lattice;
Let me see, then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore—
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;—
’Tis the wind and nothing more!”Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,

Sparrow: Urgh . . . must . . . get . . . laundry . . .
(KNOCK KNOCK)
She’s early?!
Patrick: Grrr . . .
Sparrow: Patrick! Quick, change back to dog form! And quit growling at my–
Poe: *KNOCK KNOCK*
Sparrow: –mom?
Whoa! What do we do? How does he know you’re here? Do we run? CAN we run?
Patrick: I can take him on again.
Sparrow: NO! Bianca will be VERY sad if you get hurt!
Poe: I’m not here to fight. My Master isn’t with me. I only want to talk to Patrick.
Sparrow: Do you mind? We’re trying to have a discussion in here!
I have encountered windows that would sound like a door knock when someone tapped on the pane. They had wooden shutters, but these don’t.
That said, it could’ve been that the operative bit was that they were incredibly loose in their frame as well. I didn’t think to check that at the time. I was fairly young. But thinking about it, that makes a bit more sense, and it would explain why that room got so cold in the winter.
