I looked through a lot of "generic usually-one-off yaoi manga" covers to find the perfect Bennett-and-Cohen references.
Much as the "willowy bishounen" and "doe-eyed shota-bait uke" body types are staples of the genre, there's also plenty of rep for "stern sturdy businessmen in perfectly-pressed suits and ties."
The really hard part was finding something where I could make it work without swapping the poses, since Cohen is the Short One, and his demeanor in a manga couple almost always goes to the Tall One. Yaya Sakuragi's "Hide and Seek" eventually provided.
I kept mostly the same Capitol Building background from the original version of the cover. Because when you spend that long drawing something, you don't miss a chance to reuse it.

Me: Why go to all that trouble? Cybele wearing the Capitol Building as a hat was so funny! *checks posting date* …Never mind, swapping that one out was absolutely the right choice
