Annotated Interlude 3 Cover – The Donkey and the Carpenter
I don’t remember ever actively having any religious belief. Didn’t go through a “loss of faith” arc, because there wasn’t any to lose in the first place. My parents were Christians, so I was 9 or 10 when I set out to read the entire Bible (don’t get too impressed, it was the Contemporary English Version), trying to suss out what people found so compelling about it. No dice.
But a good story is a good story, whether or not you’re convinced it’s part of the real magic history of your planet. Which is how I ended up basically writing fanfiction about it anyway.
The updated cover here is an homage to Saint Young Men, a manga where Jesus and Buddha are just a couple of guys splitting an apartment and hanging out. It’s absolutely charming.

Since the title of Saint Young Men is “Saint Oniisan” I think its a missed opportunity to not name the manga “Saint Bros”.
It is cute.
