Chapter: Chapter Twenty-Six
Characters: Ann's Being, Cybele, Cybele's Former Master, Frederick Oliver, Haseena Balachandran, Kara Lynn
Hey look, it’s the Background Former Master Squad.
Previous Master of the Rabbit, who named her Starbreeze.
Frederick Oliver, previous Master of the Big Cat That’s Not A Lion, who usually kept him as a panther and named him Phineas.
And Haseena Balachandran, previous Master of the Lizard, who named her Nasra.
Weird question- If there were a person who was the Master of a Being (let’s say the… deer, if it exists, hypothetically; could be any Being but I’m picking a not-seen one so we don’t have any bad dreams about the following question) were to encounter a person who was not the Master of a Being, could the not-Master kill the Master and then turn around and convince the Being to make a contract with them, or would the Being naturally want to just leave because of how this person killed their (now former) Master?
Or, in shorter terms- if you killed a Being’s Master, could you convince that Being to make a contract with you?
Beings don’t instantly lose all their custom settings when their Master dies, so if you killed a Master, the Being’s immediate reaction would be hatred and horror, and it would run away from you as fast as possible. (And, whenever applicable, toward someone it thought of as good and kind). But you could conceivably make the next Contract if you gave the Being enough time to cool down, assuming someone else didn’t get to it in the meantime.
Oh no, I’m caught up! Now I have to wait for regular updates like everyone else ;_;
I have to say, I LOVE this comic. Gonna try not to say anything spoilery here, but: LGBTQ+ people! Intersectionality! Found families! In-depth exploration of power dynamics and consent issues! Jewish mysticism!!!! And all in an extremely complex, well designed, believable and impactful story. Like, where has this been my WHOLE LIFE.
Well, for the past seven years and counting it’s been right here…!
Seriously, this is a delightful comment, and I want to frame it and hang it on my wall. (Or at least, in my advertisements.)
Saw an ad quoting this today! Nice!
Meant that as a reply to above, oops
Oh this is funny, so I recently got a new cat and wanted to name her after a webcomic character, as I read so many of them. One of my first ideas was ‘Reseda’ but she doesn’t really look like much of a Reseda to me, and I considered going ‘Blake’ after that but was afraid of people thinking it was a reference to the RWBY character, who i’m not terribly fond of and is also associated with cats. eventually settled on “Phineas” after Phineas Kidd from Kidd Commander, who was just the right amount of spunk for this cat, but it looks like I ended up naming her after the big cat that ain’t a lion anyways XD
