Chapter 28 page 1 ~ Porque no los dos?
Chicago offices of Ann Walker.

[CREAK]
Walker: Ilsa? Is that you?
Blake: Sorry, boss — just me.
Walker: Where is that Wolf? Even if she insists on walking from the airport — her flight landed over an hour ago.
Blake: Sidetracked? Her Master always liked to order her to scope out new areas for other Beings.
Walker: Of which there shouldn’t be any in the entire city! Except Jany and her Lizard, of course.
Blake: Well, maybe Ilsa ran into them and they’re all going out for ice cream.
Walker: Should’ve put a tracker on her.
Blake: . . . do you mean Ilsa or Jany?
Walker: Why not both?
Why not both?
because it’d be easier to secretly track Jany’s company phone than a tracker implant. Or even tell her you’re doing it as a safety precaution. After all, we’re just doing what needs to be done to keep Blake safe for the apocalypse. Perhaps the worst of it can even be avoided if there are only four Unshaped Beings left before A-Day!
As for Ilsa: The she-wolf’s likely willing, able, and eager to dig anything foreign she feels in her body out with a melon baller in public, just to see people’s reactions.
Why bother with a melon baller? She’d probably just do it with her own claws
Would she even NEED to? The way beings regenerate, maybe foreign things are expelled from their body as part of healing.
This…is actually a pretty big oversight for someone like Walker actually. I’m surprised she didn’t have a suit with Jany at all times.
