Chapter: Chapter 28
Characters: Ann Walker, Ann's Being, Miranda Lake, Patrick, Poe, Reseda, Sparrow Applebaum, Stuart Cohen, The Wolf
Ilsa: I will knock through the walls of this office.
Blake: So let’s take it out of the office. Challenge?
Ilsa: Accepted.
[GRRR…]
Blake: . . . It’s definitely her, boss. And I want to be in fighting shape when we do meet the Dog tomorrow, so I forfeit.
The Dog tonight . . .
Patrick: Yes, we’re all relatives of the patient! I’m the brother, and this is our cousin, my wife, my wife’s cousin, my wife’s cousin’s husband, and my wife’s cousin’s dad that she’s the cousin on the side of. Obviously.
This is almost as complicated as my family’s reunions!
Umm, if I remember correctly one of Ilsa’s problems was that she can’t get into the “battle world.” I thought challenges were between masters only, and because Ilsa’s master was in a coma he couldn’t accept challenges. She wouldn’t have freezing problems if she could be in challenges.
Beings can accept challenges on behalf of their masters. Waaaay back, Blake challenged Lightning and taunted him with “Well, maybe this will be the time he finds you.”
What Khyrin said — challenges can be issued from Being to Being. Ilsa can still battle; she’s having the freezing problem because she isn’t getting any other orders from her Master.
Ok. Hadn’t remembered that page. The main “good guys” haven’t done/known that to my knowledge, and Jany’s problem was to do with the lack of entry into the “battle world,” not lack of orders, confusing my view.
The poor nurse! LOL!
Couldn’t they set some rule for the challenge which would allow them to really “fight” without getting hurt AND forced them to the monster form? Like, who can shout louder?
That’s not little miss anarcho capitalist’s style.
He could have just said ‘my wife’s uncle in law’ or ‘my wife’s uncle’ instead of ‘mywives cousin’s dad on the side that she’s a cousin on’
As a side note, don’t pretend to be related to someone to access their hospital room unless they are in that room under a fake identity.
It can actually mess up their chart, and cause them (and you) trouble in the future.
When I was in high school, my best friend had her third or fourth open-heart surgery. Her parents snuck me in by claiming that I was a half-sister to my friend. With a very hard look at me, the nurse said that I could stay, but SINCE I was related, I would have no trouble assisting the nurse with changing the pad of my “sister” (poor thing started her period just prior to the surgery). So I did. My friend and I joke about it to this day.
I just had a thought… Remember the title of this comic? And the context when it was spoken?
I wonder if Dr. Gaillard is waiting outside Walker’s office right now.
…
Oh wait, that sign is in English, so this is probably Timothy they’re all here to see, not Ilsa’s master.
Also, I adore both the coughing sign and the Wolf’s monster form. Love its’ concept, though the leg eyes are horrifying! (‘Cause, y’know, MONSTER). Love it!
