Since it’s so big, I’m taking Monday off. In the meantime, check out the new free post on Patreon with BICP sketches and character designs — dating as far back as 2003. (Disregard the content warning, it doesn’t apply to this post.)
There’s also a new poll about Patreon rewards in general. Open to current and would-be supporters alike!

[TRANSFORM!]
Blake: Boss, it’s Cohen and the Dog. Not an imposter, either — he’s got the right ears.
Walker: Cohen. You’re up to something.
[psssshhh]
Cohen: I’m always up to something, Walker. Same as you. It’s why we get along so well.
Walker: And Patrick . . . how long has it been since I’ve seen him?
Cohen: Literally, or . . . ?
Walker: Yes, you’re very witty. I certainly haven’t heard that one multiple times since we last fought.
Cohen: All right, all right.
Walker: Anyway . . . This disproves a few of the theories I’ve had about what’s going on with you.
. . . but it tracks very neatly with some of the others.
So, did Jany feed that particular misconception, or did Anne tend it like a loving gardener all on her own?
I’m very eager to see how this continues.
Jany fed it, though mostly unintentionally! She let slip that Kara Lynn fought a “Pat-“, then she had Kara Lynn demonstrate super-special-awesome dragon-type fireball powers, and finally she told Walker that her fight with Lightning had reduced him to a heap of dirt.
That last one would jive perfectly with the “Patrick is now a heap of dirt” story that Cohen was giving anyone close enough to be suspicious…and that Walker just might have heard rumors of.
Oh, wow, that makes way more sense than what I could put together from the picture.
It just now occurred to me that one way Beings can tell each other apart is by recognizing the parts of their animal form, because their animal forms can’t share traits unique to another form.
The Cat, Lion, Tiger, Wolf, and Rabbit (the only mammalian Beings I can think of right now) would never be able to copy the Dog’s ears (although Patrick would be able to copy the few of the others’, because dog breeds are VERY diverse and have many types of ears).
Genius. (I don’t remember if this has ever been explicitly stated in-comic before, so forgive me if it has.)
Hah, for a moment there I was wondering, “Wait, why is the Bear hanging out under her bench?” But no, that’s Ilsa, which speaks well for their various plans.
Once again, Ms. Walker comes to that wrong conclusion solely because she doesn’t have all the relevant details. It’s already been shown that she’s no stranger to cognitive bias, though, so the question now becomes: when another detail or two emerges, will she discard them, remaining fixated on her previous conclusions, or will she revise her whole set of theories?
Alas, without a window into Erin’s brain, we can only keep waiting…
I’m so glad you mentioned Ilsa under the bench because I did not see her there!
We all come to wrong conclusions all the time solely because we don’t have all the relevant details. It’s already been shown that we’re no strangers to cognitive bias, though, so the question is: when another detail or two emerges, will we discard them, remaining fixated on our previous conclusions, or will she revise her whole set of theories?
This question is one of the key elements that divide the common person from the scientist.
Ms. Walker strives to be a scientist, but she doesn’t seem to be a very good one. It feels like she’s discarded quite a few details to remain fixated on her previous conclusions. So I think she’s liable to do that again. It generally feels safer than re-testing the lever that seems to always shock you, just to see if it still does.
Kale??
