Sparrow: The ATM — and I haven’t been out of cash since —
Bianca: Like the extra twenty I found —
Sparrow: You too?
Bianca: Have you been sticking extra bills in our wallets this whole time?
Patrick: I thought you needed them! Was I wrong?
Bianca: Patrick, we can always use more money. That doesn’t make it okay for you to steal it for us!
Patrick: But I didn’t steal anything! I —
I took it out of my account. The one my last Master set up for me. He said any money in it was for me to use. And he still hasn’t closed it, or emptied it out, so it’s still all mine. Right?
He has his own account, but he can still access it from a distance without needing to use a card or pin-number.
He can memorize the pin-number. It’s the lack of card I’m confused about.
Perhaps there is a technique beings can use to MAKE a card? Patrick was able to form a raincoat, and while it may have helped him keep cover, if he was just going to get wet when he de-spawned the coat, what would be the point…
The tricky bit would be making the card work.
Or maybe The Dog DOES have a few tricks to get past not having a card.
Well, this certainly complicates things. I’m relieved he’s not stealing, not technically anyway, but still.
I do wonder a bit about this… If a Being’s got a bank account set up from a really long time ago, wouldn’t the banks get suspicious if withdrawls are still being made?
Japanese descendents were still taking in retirement pay until a treasurey guy noticed the birth dates and realized the man would be over 150 years old.,,,and it wasn’t an isolated incident.
Last Master, i.e. Miranda’s father who she hates (maybe too strong a word) for his treatment of Patrick, set up a bank account for Patrick’s use? Something’s hinky here.
Is Miranda’s father running experiments on Beings too? Maybe she didn’t come up with studying their programming on her own?
*Snerk* And I completely missed Patrick slipping them extra money. Well done, Erin.
Maybe he’s rich enough that he won’t notice 20$ vanishing from time to time?
Or he’s using it as future bargaining material against Patrick’s new owners.
I am thinking he’s running experiments on them. Breaking the contract was an experiment, and maybe giving one access to a bank account could be used as an experiment to see if they understand the concept of money, as well as a possible way to track Patrick’s movements. (where the account was accessed can be traced).
Another idea: His old Master ordered him to make a new contract. I wonder what would happen then. Could a beingmaybe even have two masters at the same time?
My first thought was “$#!^, Pat’s been giving away his general location from the start. This is bad.”
Seems like a relatively cheap way (if you’re rich enough) to keep track of where your ex-Being is. :)
