Bianca: You take this half of the list.
Patrick: Okay.
Bianca: Brand names and flavors are written down, so you don’t have to worry about choices. We’re having a feast tonight!
Patrick: Why is this night different from all other nights?
Bianca: My parents just sent me a check.
Patrick: You mean you can’t buy this much normally?
Bianca: On the lavish salary of an assistant junior librarian in training? Not likely! If you can’t find anything, just skip it and ask me when we meet up, okay?
Patrick: Okay.

Our ATM at work is always out of money… it’s Patrick’s fault!
I didn’t even know you *could* hack an ATM. Not without an external computer, at any rate. Actually, Beings have magic-ness, right? And they’re thousands of years old, so they’ve probably gotten pretty good. So . . . could Patrick use subtle lightning magic to simulate technopathy?
You would think that someone would make electronics unhackable with beings around. Too bad the security camera on that ATM is gonna catch him in the act. Can you say police readers?
Speaking of which, here’s one for the Q&A: If a being breaks a law, who is legally responsible?
Beings are an open secret, right? So there would be no laws dealing with beings. My guess is that the owner either takes responsibility (moral obligation; nothing more) or instructs the being never to take the form in which he had committed the crime.
If a Being breaks the law, the Master is responsible, and not just morally. Even if you can’t prove that the Master ordered the Being to commit the crime, the Master is the only one with the ability to completely prevent it. Thus most legal systems put all the responsibility on the Master.
I think his luck will have it so the camera blew out or something

Given his previous master, it’s entirely possible he’s withdrawing money from his account. We know he’s rich, after all.
Oh good, I was going to say that too… I don’t think there’s a way to actually hack an ATM.
How though? How can he do that without a credit/bank card? Or can you get money out of ATM in the US just trough memorizing account numbers and passwords?
You can hack an ATM if the people who installed it forgot to change the administrator password on the keypad. You cannot make it spit out money, but you can tell it that it’s 20s are. in fact, 1s and get out 20x the amount you withdrew. This is very illegal. I have never done it, but I read an article about how to, with warnings that they investigate this sort of thing VERY carefully.
i bet he just stole his old masters money. :P would be awesome revenge, no?
