On the Discworld, golems have a ‘chem’, a piece of paper in their heads which contains their central instructions and the spark of life. This is just a teensy bit more complicated than that…
In traditional…traditions…a Golem has two main sets: The word carved into its forehead *which activates or deactivates it* and a scroll with its instructions on it inside the roof of its mouth (or under the tongue depending on the version).
Well that escalated quickly.
