Bianca: Okay, Miranda, you’ve made your point! I’m not great at this. I know! Can you let me back on the ground now? Pretty please?
Do you know what Patrick was going to say?
Poe: My Master wouldn’t want me to tell you. I just hope she makes a choice she’s happy with.
Miranda: Keep her there, Poe. I’m not done with this yet. –Oh, no you don’t! I’m not getting near you!
Patrick: …
Miranda: I — I just mean I won’t fornow! Because your first loyalty is still to her — And I don’t have unlimited power, here, I only prepared a set amount of pentacles —
But . . . I could fix that. If I want to . . . I have the command that could take you back.
Don’t you mean “Keep her there, Poe” in panel number 3.
A command to take back to when or where? I’ve got a sinking feeling that it depends on the fine print and Miranda missed something. Like maybe misreading it as Patrick will go back to when he had no contract as the time between Bianca and her father’s mastery over him, but it really means to go back to before the first contract before the programming was changed.
I just pulled that one out. If the comic actually goes there, my jaw will be on the floor next week.
Yes indeed. Fixed it, thanks!
It’s an interesting theory, I’ll say that much…
Welcome!
I read it as in take him back under contract with Miranda. (Not that he was as far as we know, just her dad) I could see her voiding Bianca’s and Patrick#s contract and taking him on again I guess,at least as her ultimate plan… But I wonder what would happen to Poe. Could you have two beings at once?
My thought is that maybe while she intends ‘take you back’ to mean that SHE would get to be Patrick’s master, the command would actually put him under the previous contract with her father.
One more thing! /uncle
While I can entirely see a command to erase an existing contract (which entirely explains how Pat got free to start with), I can’t see one to force a Being to sign a new contract with a particular person (reset to an earlier one, yes, force an entirely new one to a new person specifically, no). I don’t think Pat will take kindly to Miranda’s ploy, and will just re-sign with Bianca, given the chance.
Of course…reset too hard, and maybe they go back to “Kill all humans?” That would be a twist…
