Fisham.
Josh: I’m just trying to tell stories . . .
Anti-fan 1: Your stories are bad and you should feel bad.
Khirbet Qana.
Anti-fan 2: What kind of riffraff are you letting in here?
Josh: I don’t judge! As long as the people have ears, why not let them listen?
Watchton.
Anti-fan 3: Seriously, all these people think you’re magic? Maryam’s little brat?
Josh: Visit your home town again, they said. It’ll be fun, they said.
Figham: María and her family’s house.
Josh: Sorry about the crowd outside your place, María. Fans are nice, but they’re starting to get exhausting! I’ve had three different people come up to me this week and ask if I was secretly the Anointed One of prophecy.
Disciple: And why shouldn’t they? Unless you don’t believe the scripture on that . . .
Josh: María! How many people in the greater Figham area are claiming to be the Messiah?
María: Forty-two.
Josh: That’s why.
Disciple: Yeah, but Josh . . . you’re probably the only one who knows how to create life.
Saxon: And as far as I am concerned, he is the Way, the Truth, and the Light!
Disciple: See? See?!
Josh: Saxon, you’re not helping.
Blast it Saxon! Humility! I’m trying to keep it!
but, yeah, there were a tonne of Messiah running around the middle east at that period.
So he’s not the messiah, but is he a very naughty boy?
That about sums it up!
I prefer my Messiah Naughty.
*chortles* But he CAN create life… and people who don’t claim anything probably ARE. ;)
Reminds me of a historical observation:
If a person goes around claiming to be a god, or the descendent of one. People will view this as ego, and at least in time reject them regardless of their teachings.
If a person has charisma and says they are not a god, the people will say they are being humble and claim that they therefor must be a god or connected to one in some way.
yep. People are incredibly hard to not manipulate when you are trying not to manipulate them. It’s an irony.
Oh wow that’s a lot of referenced verses.
“As long as the people have ears, why not let them listen?”
“Whoever has ears, let them hear” Matthew 11:15
“Visit your home town they said. It’ll be fun they said.”
“(Now Jesus himself had pointed out that a prophet has no honor in his own country.)” John 4:44
“Saxon: And as far as I am concerned, he is the Way, the Truth, and the Light!”
This one’s a bit tricky. The closest I found for position and intent was:
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:16
But post-ressurection there’s: “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
Wait, is Saxon PETER?
“Saxon, you’re not helping.”
“Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.” Mathew 16:20
Point of order, if that was the case the first pope would still be with us.
There are 42 people claiming to be the Messiah. Is that number a subtle reference to The Answer to life, the universe and everything?
But of course =)
Its funny i know adams picked it at random but ever since i read those books i notice 42 comes up a lot
