I feel like there are some genres of Cat Meme that are evergreen -- "cats in boxes" and "cats making weird faces", for example -- but "cats having exaggerated startle reactions to cucumbers" was a fad. We took a bunch of these pictures, we shared them around, and then we just...stopped.
Geez, if the cats knew why we all decided to terrify them for a few months before getting bored, what would they think of us?
